How We Started
Dopl’s story began in 2017 when founders James, Monsky, and Seslar met and set out to break down the geographic barriers that limit access to specialized care. Their research spanned multiple initiatives, including in vitro and in vivo remote robotic minimally invasive procedures, and a live remote cardiac ablation performed over 2,000 miles. 1. 2.
That breakthrough revealed a bigger opportunity: not another device, but a software platform to enable specialists to remotely operate existing medical technologies. In 2022, Dopl was founded to bring this vision to market, starting with non-invasive telerobotic ultrasound to expand access to high-quality diagnostic care, everywhere.
